An interesting email I received from my host.

Hello,

We have noticed that the file '/mchat.php' is causing server and network heavy load. The file was consuming a lot of outgoing bandwidth which means, the server was overloaded. Hence, we have suspended the website service for your account.

In order to revoke suspension you need to delete or edit all the loading files so that server load can be reduced. Please look into this and take relevant actions, so that the files from your web directory will not overload our servers. Also, upgrade php applications to latest version.

Please reply to this email with requested information, so that we can assist you further.

Phpbb is upgraded to a fresh install, New chat etc.
They stated I had 5000 queries in an hour.
Is this just too much chatting or should I be looking somewhere inside for a bug?

There is no bug, you should be looking for a better host.

5000 queries per hour is ~1.38 per second. Not sure how many users you have on your forum though or if you allow the bots to view the chat (which will also cause server use).

You also didn't state how long you have the refresh time set for.
